- The stubborn part of me that has always quietly refused to conform to the do, do, do, push, push, push, go, go, go, Protestant Work Ethic.
- That piece of me that bought into the judgements and deemed me less than.
- That piece that whispered lazy, selfish, not good enough, burden, worthless.
- That piece of me that has just refused to cooperate.
- That stubborn piece which kept me from doing all that I could, kept me from being all that I can be, and kept me in a place failing to live up to my highest potential.
- The piece of me that has said without words, "This much. And No More."
- The Irony that, it is that self-same place that saves my life and that has kept my Self intact all these years.
- The brilliance of another person who pointed this out, and her suggestion that I honor that which has kept me alive.
- Her acknowledgement of the lie we get told..."When you do 'x'. You'll be lovable." "When you do 'y' you'll deserve good things.", "When you do 'z', you'll have our approval." Those are falsehoods. It will never be enough. There will always be something more.
- The truth--which is...I am already lovable. I already deserve good things. And the Universe/God approves of me even if I never lift another finger [yes, even if I'm capable of doing so!!].
- The realization that I could probably be called a christian. Because I'm a Protest-ant.
- That the Truth often does set one free. Even if it is free to do more :D
Peacefully yours,
Sharon
